Privacy
This site sets no cookies for visitors and runs no advertising or cross-site tracking. We count visits in a way that does not identify you.
Who we are
This site is run by Rain Ventures Ltd, 71-75 Shelton Street, London WC2H 9JQ, which also owns Rainshift and Rayna Local. We decide how your details are used (we are the controller). For anything about your data, email hello@rainventures.ai.
What we collect
- When you email us or book a call: your name, email address and what you tell us, so we can reply and, if you go ahead, deliver the work.
- Server logs: our hosting provider keeps standard logs (such as IP address, browser and pages requested) for a short time, for security and to keep the site running.
- Visit counts: we use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views and see which pages help people, and to count clicks on our main buttons, sent forms and Ask Rayna answers (never what you typed). It records the page, the site you came from, your country, and your device and browser type. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, does not identify you and does not follow you across other sites.
- The contact form on /contact, when it is open: your name, work email, company and LinkedIn profile address if you give them, what your enquiry is about, your message, the page you sent it from with how your visit reached us (a campaign tag or partner code in the link you followed, or the site that linked to us, such as LinkedIn), and whether you ticked the box for Rainshift Insights, our newsletter. It goes to a Google Sheet and our Gmail inbox, both in our Google Workspace account, and to our team’s task board (Keeptrack, kept in a private GitHub repository) so a person picks it up. We use your LinkedIn profile only to read up on you before we reply. We send Rainshift Insights only if you tick that box; it is never ticked for you. The newsletter has not started yet: until it does, your tick is kept with your enquiry. Every issue will have a link to stop it, or email us. We keep enquiries for 12 months, then delete them. Our hosting provider’s logs for the form keep a reference number and whether it was sent, not what you typed.
- Ask Rayna, when it is open: the question you type is sent to an AI model, through our hosting provider’s AI gateway, to write the answer. We keep the question and the answer’s type in our server logs, without your IP address, to improve the answers. Please do not put personal or confidential details in it. If you chat with Rayna on /contact after sending your enquiry, what you ask and what she answers is kept with your enquiry (in the same Google Sheet, and as a summary on our task board), so the person who replies can read it, and is deleted with it after 12 months.
Cookies
Visitors get no cookies from this site, so there is nothing to accept or decline. The only cookie we use is set for our own staff when they test features that are not yet public. While your browser tab is open, the site keeps a note of how your visit reached us in the tab’s own session storage, so the contact form can tell us; it is not sent anywhere unless you send the form, and your browser deletes it when you close the tab.
You can object to this at any time. This button deletes the note and tells your browser not to make one again on this site; it keeps a single setting in your browser’s local storage to remember your choice. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, we never make the note.
Why, and on what basis
To answer you and to take steps you ask for before a contract (legitimate interests and contract, under UK GDPR). Rainshift Insights, our newsletter, only with your consent: the tick box on the contact form, which you can withdraw at any time. Counting visits is in our legitimate interest in running and improving the site. We do not sell your details or use them for advertising.
Who else handles it
Our hosting provider (Vercel), our email provider, Google (Google Workspace, for the contact form’s sheet and email) and GitHub (where our task board is kept) handle data for us, under contracts that limit them to doing so. Where any of them process data outside the UK, they use the safeguards UK GDPR requires.
How long we keep it
Enquiries sent with the contact form: 12 months, then deleted. Other enquiries only as long as we need them to reply and follow up. Client records as long as the law requires. Server logs and visit counts for the periods our providers set, which are short.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your details, or object to how we use them: email us. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
